Cook/Food Services Assistant for Hungarian Aged Care Home

We are seeking an experienced Cook/Food Service Assistant for immediate start.

We are looking for positive, hard-working catering team members to join our catering team at the Arpad Aged Care with a robust focus on great service to our residents and an interest in the Hungarian cuisine, as we provide culturally specific food to our residents.

About the Role

The Cook/Food Services Assistant will be responsible for working with the chef or independently, as required. The position includes cooking, food preparation, serving of meals to all residents in the dining room, overseeing food trays and beverages. Other duties are washing up of all dishes and preparing the kitchen for the next shift. Catering for residents with special dietary requirements as directed by the Head Chef is required, therefore knowledge on special diets would be an advantage.





You will also be responsible for maintaining cleanliness within the catering department in line with required food safety, infection control and aged care standards, while offering high standards of quality and service to residents and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be willing to learn to cook culturally specific food to the taste of our residents.

In this role you will report to Head Chef and work closely with a positive and respected team.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have a high attention to detail and work effectively in a team or independently as required, within a fast-paced environment. Your ability to prioritise tasks effectively will assist you with your excellent time management skills. You also have a respectful attitude towards older people and a caring nature.

You will also bring;

Previous experience as a cook in an aged care environment is highly desirable.

Understanding of food safety and hygiene principles

Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus

Compliance with HACCP, Food Safety and Workplace, Health and Safety

Certificate II or Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
