Job Description
Placed.au is looking for a full-time Motor Mechanic for our client in St Kilda, Victoria. This role is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining motor vehicles while ensuring all work is completed to manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and workplace safety requirements. Job Description:
- Diagnose engine faults, including mechanical and electrical systems in motor vehicles
- Provide routine and preventative maintenance services, including oil changes, servicing, and fault rectification
- Assess the condition of vehicles through inspections and diagnostic testing to identify worn, damaged, or faulty components
- Conduct tests on engine safety, emissions, and combustion control to ensure compliance with federal and state vehicle regulations
- Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components for inspection, repair, or replacement
- Reassemble, repair, or replace parts and components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards
- Use diagnostic tools, manuals, and technical data to support accurate fault identification and repair work
- Maintain a clean, safe,
and organised workshop environment in line with workplace health and safety requirements
- Collaborate with team members to meet service deadlines and maintain high customer satisfaction
- Perform any other mechanical tasks required to support workshop operations
Qualifications / Attributes
- Must hold a Certificate III or Certificate IV in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or a related trade qualification, or at least three (3) years of relevant work experience may substitute for the formal qualification listed above
- Must possess at least three (3) years of relevant work experience as a Motor Mechanic or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and workshop tools
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and manufacturer specifications
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Commitment to workplace health and safety practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a quick-paced workshop environment
Salary Range $78,000 - $85,000 per annum excluding superannuation.
