About the role

We are seeking an experienced Retail Manager to take full responsibility for the overall management of Lotto & Tobacconist at our High Street premises, employed by BREAKTIME 1 PTY LTD. This is a full-time, ongoing position (minimum 38 hours per week), subject to eligibility and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day store operations, ensuring efficient service, accurate transactions and high standards of customer care.
- Lead, roster and supervise sales staff, including recruitment, induction, ongoing training and performance management.
- Oversee product ordering, deliveries, inventory control and merchandising of lottery, tobacco and convenience lines.
- Monitor sales and costs, prepare basic reports and implement strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
- Ensure cash-handling, POS operation, banking and reconciliation are completed accurately and securely.
- Maintain strict compliance with regulatory requirements for lottery and tobacco products, including ID checks, signage and reporting obligations.
- Handle escalated customer queries and complaints in a professional and solution-focused manner.

Skills and experience

- A Diploma in business, retail management or a related discipline, OR at least 3 years’ experience in retail management with staff supervision responsibilities.




- Proven experience managing a busy retail outlet for at least 1 year full time (e.g. lotto, tobacconist, convenience, or similar).
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate and retain a small team of sales assistants.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a hands‑on approach on the shop floor.
- Sound understanding of retail compliance obligations, including cash-handling, lotteries, tobacco sale regulations and workplace safety.
- Ability to work a rotating roster including weekends, public holidays and peak trading periods.

Salary and benefits

Salary: AUD 76,000 – 86,000 per annum plus superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience. Full time role with opportunities for increased responsibility as the business grows.

Primary workplace: Belmont Lotto & Tobacconist, Shop 6-8/65 High St, Belmont VIC 3216, located in Belmont Village Shopping Centre. On-site role; no remote work.
