My Australian Career An established business in Somerton VIC is seeking a Maintenance Fitter to join its high-performing team on a full-time basis. Position Overview: The role plays a key part in maintaining, repairing, and servicing plant, machinery, and equipment to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operations across manufacturing and industrial processes.

Task & responsibilities

Interpret engineering drawings, maintenance schedules, and job specifications to determine repair and servicing requirements Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical faults in plant, machinery, and equipment Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime Dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical components, including bearings, seals, pumps, gearboxes, and conveyors Fabricate, machine, and fit replacement parts to exact tolerances Align, install,



and commission new or repaired machinery and equipment Operate metalworking and workshop equipment safely and effectively Monitor equipment performance and identify emerging faults or wear Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges Respond to breakdowns and carry out fault-finding and rectification in a timely manner Operate lifting equipment (cranes, hoists, forklifts where licensed/authorised) Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and service records Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety (WHS), environmental, and quality systems Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in reliability, efficiency, and safety

Qualification & experience

Trade qualification (Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical/Fitting, or equivalent) or substantial equivalent experience as a Fitter (General) Experience in mechanical fitting, maintenance, and machinery repair Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics Experience using precision measuring instruments and diagnostic tools High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing/production environment, including responding to breakdowns Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
