Hyundai Rotem Company (HRC) is a global leader in rail manufacturing, engineering and technology, delivering major rollingstock and infrastructure projects across more than 50 countries.
As part of our continued growth in Australia, we're delivering two nationally significant rail projects:
- Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) – Design, manufacture and delivery of 65 new passenger trains and the establishment of recent manufacturing and maintenance facilities in Queensland.
- New Intercity Fleet (NIF) – Delivery of a new fleet of intercity trains for the NSW rail network in partnership with UGL and Mitsubishi Electric Australia.
As our Australian operations continue to grow, we're looking for an enthusiastic and proactive HR Officer to join our People & Culture team.
About the Role
This is more than a traditional HR administration role.
You'll become the operational face of HR, supporting employees and leaders across our project workforce while partnering closely with the HR Generalist to deliver a high-quality people experience.
You'll be the first point of contact for day-to-day HR enquiries, support recruitment and onboarding activities, build strong relationships across the business and play an important role in identifying opportunities to improve our people processes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their HR career in a growing organisation while gaining exposure to employee relations, recruitment, workforce planning and HR operations.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Operations & Advisory
- Provide first-line HR support to employees and managers.
- Respond to day-to-day HR enquiries relating to policies, leave and employment matters.
- Build trusted relationships with stakeholders across project teams.
- Support managers with HR processes and employee lifecycle activities.
- Identify emerging workplace issues and escalation where appropriate.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Coordinate recruitment activities from interview scheduling through to onboarding.
- Complete reference checks, qualification verification and pre-employment screening.
- Prepare employment contracts, offer letters and onboarding documentation.
- Support new employees throughout their onboarding journey.
HR Administration
- Prepare employment documentation and contract variations.
- Maintain employee records and HR documentation.
- Coordinate performance review administration.
- Support HR reporting and HRIS administration.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and HR projects.
About You
You'll be someone who enjoys building relationships, takes pride in providing excellent customer service and wants to grow your HR career beyond administration.
You'll also bring:
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Human Resourcesin Australia
- 3-5 years' experience in an HR Officer, HR Administrator or HR Coordinator role
- Experience supporting recruitment and onboarding activities
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Sound understanding of Australian employment legislation, National Employment Standards and Modern Awards
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Agile mindset & flexible approach to emerging situations
- Able to tailor your advice, support and communication to different cultures and personalities
- Experience using a HRIS system
Highly Regarded
- Experience within construction, Aviation, engineering, manufacturing, FMCG, infrastructure or project environments
- Exposure to Manufacturing, Clerks or Professional Awards
