About The Role
Based in BYD's Mulgrave Office in Melbourne, this role will support the ANZ General Manager Office team with fleet operations.
The Internal Fleet &
- Used Car Specialist is responsible for managing BYD and Denza internal fleet operations across relevant departments and supporting the used vehicle remarketing program. This role ensures the effective utilisation of company vehicles and maximises residual values, with a view to developing a future Certified Pre-Owned strategy.
The role acts as a bridge between BYD/Denza, the dealer network, and remarketing channels to maintain operational excellence and brand integrity throughout the vehicle lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Internal Fleet Management
- Manage the internal fleet, including company vehicles, evaluation vehicles, press/test fleet, and pool vehicles.
- Oversee vehicle allocation, ordering, capitalisation, registration, maintenance, and disposal in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate fleet records, ensuring compliance with regulatory, taxation, insurance, and safety requirements.
- Coordinate with internal departments, including Marketing, Product Planning, and Engineering, to support short- and long-term vehicle requirements.
- Analyse fleet utilisation and recommend strategies to improve efficiency and cost control.
- Used Vehicle &
- Remarketing Operations
- Develop and manage used vehicle strategies, including Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) and remarketing initiatives.
- Manage the disposal process for internal and ex-fleet vehicles through dealer auctions and wholesale channels.
- Monitor market values, residual values, and used vehicle performance to optimise pricing strategies and maximise retention.
- Collaborate with Finance, Sales, and Dealer Network teams to maintain strong resale performance and minimise depreciation losses.
- Manage vehicle buyback processes and administer the Fleet Policy.
- Ensure consistent brand representation and vehicle quality throughout the used vehicle market lifecycle.
- Data, Reporting &
- Compliance
- Develop and maintain fleet and remarketing databases, ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
- Provide monthly reporting on fleet utilisation, costs, residual value performance, and stock turnover.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, taxation requirements, and data privacy regulations.
- Liaise with Finance and Procurement teams on budgeting, forecasting, and asset management reporting.
- Stakeholder &
- Dealer Engagement
- Work closely with dealer partners to support used vehicle programs, training, and best practices.
- Coordinate with Logistics, Marketing,
and Sales teams to align fleet and remarketing activities with new vehicle campaigns.
- Manage third-party suppliers, including transport providers, auction houses, and fleet management partners.
- Act as the internal subject matter expert for used vehicle lifecycle management.
Qualifications &
- Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
- 5 years of experience in fleet management, remarketing, or used vehicle operations within an OEM, distributor, or large dealer group.
- Strong understanding of vehicle lifecycle management, residual values, and fleet utilisation, with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience with fleet management software, ERP, CRM systems, and reporting tools such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyse data, identify opportunities, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across internal teams, dealer networks, and third-party suppliers.
- Robust negotiation and supplier management skills, with experience managing external partners.
- Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and a continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
