About the role

The Asset Systems Officer will administer Dungog Shire Council’s Asset Management systems and GIS, ensuring asset data is accurate, reliable and supports planning, reporting and decision‑making. The role will integrate inspection results, developer assets and lifecycle data, producing GIS mapping, asset reports and analysis to inform renewal planning, risk management and long‑term financial forecasting.

The position acts as the custodian of Council’s asset systems and GIS datasets, providing technical support, training and data integrity across the Infrastructure & Assets Directorate. It reports to the Coordinator Assets and is part of the overall Infrastructure & Assets Directorate.

Essential selection criteria

- Qualifications in asset management, GIS, information systems or civil engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in administering asset systems and GIS mapping platforms.
- Strong data management, spatial analysis and reporting skills.
- Knowledge of asset management principles, lifecycle planning and integration with GIS.




- Proficiency with GIS software (ArcGIS, MapInfo, QGIS or equivalent) and asset systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and database management skills.
- Strong problem‑solving, organisational and time‑management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and provide training.

Benefits

The position is placed at Grade 8 of Council’s salary system and is a full‑time, permanent role. Salary range: $79,382 to $89,295 per annum plus 12% Superannuation.

Work schedule: 19‑day month with one rostered day off (RDO) every four weeks.
