Job Summary

Reporting to the Section Supervisor, a laboratory technician will be primarily responsible for sample preparation and involved in some analysis and other lab duties.

Location & Hours

Full‑time positions based in Murarrie, Brisbane, QLD. Shift times Monday‑Friday: 9:00 AM‑5:00 PM or 11:00 AM‑7:00 PM. 1.5% superannuation paid above the national standard rate.

Key Accountabilities

- Receive and sort soil and water samples, assign tests in accordance with the ELVIS database and prepare batch sheets in Microsoft Excel.
- Weigh samples and transfer subsamples to the appropriate departments in the laboratory.
- Extract analytes from water/soil samples as directed by the Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure traceability of samples prepared or vialed.
- Perform quality control tests.
- Prioritize samples according to turnaround times (urgent samples).
- Treat quarantine samples in accordance with quarantine procedures as directed by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) approved representative.
- Discard waste in accordance with safety and environmental considerations.




- Replenish consumable items (e.g. pipettes, vials, solvents).
- Perform calibrations of POAV instruments such as syringes, steppers and solvent dispensers and other lab equipment.
- Keep the laboratory clean and in order.
- Undertake other duties as required by the business and directed by management.
- Act in accordance with the Eurofins Code of Ethics and all other relevant policies and procedures.

Qualifications

- Positive understanding of chemistry and mathematics (Year 11); a science degree is not required.
- Previous laboratory experience is a benefit; no minimum experience required.
- Comfort and preference for fast‑paced environments.
- Strong attention to detail and focus on quality output.
- Desire to continually learn and improve.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and eagerness to take the next step.
- Hands‑on, hard‑working, and a “doer” with a common‑sense approach.
- Strategic thinking mindset.
- Currently based in Brisbane.
