About the Role:

This position is a hands-on role responsible for assembling, fitting, and testing mechanical gearbox components to ensure they meet our high standards of quality, safety, and performance. Working as part of our workshop team, you will interpret engineering drawings, assemble precision components, and contribute to the efficient production of gearbox assemblies. This is a full-time position based at our Mulgrave site.

Main Duties Include:

- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, assembly schematics, and work instructions.
- Assemble gearboxes, shafts, bearings, gears, seals, and associated mechanical components to specification.
- Use hand tools, presses, measuring equipment, and workshop machinery to accurately fit and align components.
- Carry out precision fitting and minor adjustments to achieve required tolerances.
- Inspect completed assemblies to ensure smooth operation, correct rotation, secure fitting, and leak prevention.
- Pick and allocate parts accurately using workshop codes and job requirements.
- Ensure finished products meet required quality, performance, and safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.




- Follow company quality procedures, policies, and operational standards.
- Comply with all WHS/OH&S; requirements and safe work practices.
- Work collaboratively with the workshop team to achieve production targets.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain high workmanship standards.
- Troubleshoot problems with lifting equipment, Primary damage reports, and inspection of all incoming client equipment

About You:

- Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, Maintenance Fitter, or similar is highly regarded.
- Minimum 4–5 years' experience in mechanical assembly, fitting, or a similar workshop environment.
- Hydraulics experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and assembly instructions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical knowledge of gears, bearings, shafts, seals, and drive components.
- Experience using hand tools, measuring equipment, presses, and workshop machinery.
- High attention to detail with a solid focus on quality workmanship.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
- Safety-focused with a commitment to maintaining a clean and organised workplace.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
