We’re looking for a Workshop Technician to join our friendly team at Queensland Orthotic Lab.
About the role
This is a full-time, hands-on workshop role where you’ll be trained to manufacture custom-made orthotics and ankle braces that help people move and live better. No experience is required - we provide full on-the-job training.
What you’ll be doing
- Pouring plaster casts
- Freehand shaping and finishing
- Gluing and vacuum moulding
- Shaping materials using workshop machinery
- Preparing materials and keeping the workspace organised
What we’re looking for
We’re focused on attitude, not experience. You’ll suit this role if you:
- Have good attention to detail and steady hands
- Take pride in doing neat, accurate work
- Are reliable and self‑motivated
- Enjoy practical, hands‑on tasks
- Are willing to learn and try new things
Helpful (but not essential):
- Interest or experience in manual or visual arts
- Hobbies like woodworking, sculpture, pottery,
or model‑making
- Experience using basic workshop tools
Physical requirements:
- Able to stand for periods of time
- Comfortable lifting items up to 10kg
