Nourish Cafe Toowoomba is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Attendant to join our kitchen team on a casual basis. This position is based in Toowoomba QLD 4350 and plays a vital role in supporting our kitchen operations, ensuring smooth service delivery and maintaining the highest standards of food preparation and hygiene. As a Kitchen Attendant, you will work alongside our chefs and kitchen staff to keep our kitchen running efficiently whilst maintaining a clean, safe and organised workspace.
What you'll be doing
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitising utensils and cleaning work surfaces
- Preparing ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning vegetables, meats and other food items
- Assembling sandwiches, salads and other menu items according to recipes and presentation standards
- Storing food items correctly to maintain food safety and prevent contamination
- Assisting with stock rotation, checking expiry dates and managing food inventory
- Supporting the kitchen team during busy service periods to ensure timely food preparation
- Following all health and safety regulations, including food handling procedures and workplace safety protocols
- Contributing to a positive and collaborative kitchen environment
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment, food preparation or hospitality setting is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, afternoons and potentially weekends
- A current Food Safety Certificate or willingness to obtain one is advantageous
