Content Division

The Content Division manages policy, compliance and enforcement matters relating to TV and radio broadcast content, media diversity, ownership and control, interactive gambling, gambling advertising and mis- and disinformation.

Gambling and Digital Platforms Branch

Working under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 and the Broadcasting Services Act 1992, the Gambling and Digital Platforms Branch comprises four teams contributing to developing, implementing and administering safeguards to reduce the harm to Australians when using digital platforms and gambling services, as well as accessing live sport.

We do this by preventing harms that may arise from online gambling activity, exposure to gambling advertising and the impacts of mis and disinformation. This includes administering BetStop – the National Self-Exclusion Register, which is an online service that allows Australians to self-exclude from all interactive wagering services via a single, simple registration process.

The government has recently introduced legislation to the Parliament which will expand the ACMA’s role in gambling regulation, including strengthening the operation of BetStop.

BetStop Taskforce

The BetStop Taskforce is a multi-disciplinary team responsible for making enhancements to BetStop, based on the findings and recommendations of a recent statutory review.



The taskforce was established in July 2026.

About the role

As an APS 5 Stakeholder Engagement Officer in the BetStop Taskforce, you will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with members of the interactive gambling industry, consumer advocacy groups, and government partners.

Operating in a fast-paced taskforce environment, you will provide proactive communications and robust administrative support across the team to ensure improvements to the BetStop service are developed in a collaborative manner.

The key duties of the position include:

- Manage and triage stakeholder enquiries (including sent via a shared mailbox), maintain stakeholder contact lists, and contribute to the development of stakeholder engagement plans for use by the taskforce.
- Provide secretariat support for a newly established industry consultative group, including coordinating meetings, developing agendas, managing papers, taking minutes and tracking action items.
- Assist in the development of promotional materials (both physical and digital), and the organisation of meetings and events to help promote awareness of BetStop. This may include delivering virtual awareness sessions to stakeholders and intermediaries about BetStop.
- Draft high-quality briefing papers (including meeting briefs), correspondence, and other materials for use by ACMA senior executives and Authority members.




- Provide flexible project support to broader taskforce initiatives as needs evolve.
- Contribute to the ACMA’s corporate and strategic priorities and goals as set out in the ACMA’s corporate plan and relevant business plans, including by promoting the ACMA’s values and culture.

This is an ongoing role. Following completion of the taskforce in 2027, the successful candidate will continue to provide stakeholder engagement services as part of the ACMA’s ongoing promotion and continual improvement of the BetStop service.

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment with the ACMA, applicants must be Australian citizens.

The successful candidates will also be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline level security clearance. More information on the security clearance vetting process is available on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) website.

Notes

Suitable candidates will be placed in a merit pool from this selection process and may be used to fill similar ongoing or non-ongoing roles in other areas of ACMA. Non-ongoing opportunities may be offered as a specified term.
