Human Resources Advisor – Perth Immigration Detention Centre

Location: Perth Immigration Detention Centre, Redcliffe, WA. Travel to Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre, Northam twice per week.

Role Summary: Full‑time dynamic, operationally focused HR advisory support to leaders and employees across the Centre and Perth‑based operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide high‑quality operational HR advisory support to leaders and employees across the Centre and Perth‑based operations.
- Support effective people management within a highly unionised, Enterprise Agreement based environment.
- Assist managers with employee relations matters, escalating complex or high‑risk issues to the Senior Regional HR Business Partner.
- Support industrial compliance, including interpretation and application of the Enterprise Agreement, policies and legislative requirements.
- Assist with investigations and disciplinary processes by providing coordination, documentation and procedural support, with overall carriage retained by the Senior Regional HRBP.
- Build strong working relationships with operational leaders to support workforce stability, capability and compliance.
- Contribute to HR initiatives,



projects and continuous improvement activities aligned with organisational priorities.

Key Requirements

- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in a generalist HR advisory role.
- Experience supporting workplaces governed by an Enterprise Agreement.
- Exposure to employee relations and industrial case support.
- Sound working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards.
- Ability to provide clear, practical advice in operational and high‑risk environments.
- Strong interpersonal, written communication and documentation skills.
- High level of professionalism, discretion and sound judgement.
- Ability to pass required health assessments.
- Eligibility to hold or obtain a Working with Children Check.
