Position Overview

Macquarie University Health is Australia’s first fully integrated academic health sciences centre, bringing together a university hospital, clinics and a faculty of medicine, health and human sciences. This role offers the chance for a qualified sonographer to work in a university‑linked, research‑driven environment, using state‑of‑the‑art GE and Canon imaging systems and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

- Perform high‑quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations across a broad range of specialties, including general, obstetric, vascular and musculoskeletal imaging.
- Assist with inpatient and outpatient interventional procedures.
- Collaborate closely with radiologists, specialists, referring clinicians and technical staff to ensure seamless patient care.
- Maintain the highest standards of patient care, safety and professionalism at all times.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical education activities where appropriate.
- Participate in a rotating on‑call roster and Saturday shifts.
- Work flexibly between two sites: Macquarie University Hospital and the Macquarie Shopping Centre clinic.





Qualifications & Selection Criteria

- Current ASAR registration (trainee sonographers are not eligible).
- Demonstrated clinical experience across general, obstetric, vascular and/or musculoskeletal ultrasound modalities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to engage effectively with patients, colleagues and referring clinicians.
- Commitment to patient‑centred care, safety and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility to participate in a rotating on‑call roster and Saturday shifts.
- Willingness and ability to work across the two sites mentioned above.
