We provide affordable, reliable aged care and disability services—including Support at Home, NDIS, transport, social activities, and companionship to help clients live independently and stay connected. With help from dedicated staff and local volunteers, we serve Redlands, Ipswich, Logan, Gold Coast, and Toowoomba. STAR is committed to building inclusive communities and combating social isolation through regular programs and events.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will provide strategic financial leadership across the organisation while overseeing all aspects of financial management,governanceand performance.

A key priority of the role is to strengthen and mature the internal finance function, including transitioning services currently delivered through external providers into a contemporary, high-performing in-house team. You’ll lead improvements to systems, reporting, financialcontrolsand business processes that support informed decision-making and long-term sustainability.

Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team and Board, you’ll provide strategic advice that enables the organisation to continue delivering exceptional services to the community.





Key Responsibilities:

Providing strategic financial leadership and acting as a trusted adviser to the CEO, Executive LeadershipTeamand Board.

Leading the finance function to deliver accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting.

Driving budgeting, forecasting, treasurymanagementand cash flow optimisation.

Leading statutory reporting, compliance, taxation, externalauditand financial governance.

Building,mentoringand developing a capable,engagedand high-performing finance team.

Leading the transition from outsourced finance services to an internally managed finance function.

Improving financial systems, reporting capability,automationand business intelligence.

Delivering commercial analysis, financialmodellingand long-term financial planning to support strategic decision-making.

Strengthening financial controls, riskmanagementand organizational governance.

Fostering a culture of accountability, continuousimprovementand financial stewardship across the organization.

About You

You are an experienced senior finance executive who combines strategic thinking with a practical, hands-on approach to leadership and organizational improvement.

You thrive in environments where you can build capability, lead change and develop teams, while maintaining solid financial governance and operational excellence.

You’ll bring:

CA or CPA qualifications with substantial experience as a Chief Financial Officer, Head of Finance or equivalent executive leadership role.

A proven track record of building,leadingor transforming finance functions, including experience establishing or redesigning internal finance capability.





Demonstrated success developing high-performing teams and mentoring finance professionals.

Extensive experience in financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, cash flow management, financialmodellingand long-term planning.

Strong knowledge of financial governance, internal controls,complianceand enterprise risk management.

Experience implementing or optimising finance systems, business intelligence platforms and automation solutions that improve organisational performance.

Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to executive and non-financial audiences.

Experience working collaboratively with CEOs, Executive Leadership Teams, Boards and Finance & Audit Committees.

Strong relationship management experience with auditors, banks, fundingbodiesand government agencies.

Highly Desirable:

Experience within the not-for-profit or community services sector will be highly regarded, particularly across aged care, disability, NDIS, communitytransportor other government-funded service environments.

Experience with government funding models, grants management, acquittals and financial sustainability within community organisations would be advantageous, as would experience supporting organisations through significant growth,transformationor service expansion.

Knowledge of contemporary cloud-based finance systems, Power BI (or similar business intelligence platforms) and workflow automation technologies will also be viewed favourably.
