About the role
Two (2) Fixed Term Part Time 1x (0.40 FTE) and 1x (0.50 FTE) until 30 September 2027.
The Heritage Officer (Permits) supports Heritage Victoria’s statutory responsibilities by assessing permit applications, exemptions and other heritage approvals under the Heritage Act 2017. The role prepares reports, provides recommendations, and offers specialist heritage advice to support sound decision-making.
You will work with owners, consultants, government agencies and community stakeholders to achieve positive heritage outcomes. The role is part of a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team. You will need to have demonstrated understanding of the philosophical and practical issues related to the conservation and management of the State’s most significant heritage places.

Qualifications and experience
You’llbring:
- A tertiary qualification in a heritage-related discipline, with experience in heritage conservation (mandatory).
- A strong understanding of heritage conservation principles and the Heritage Act 2017 (mandatory).
- Experience working in a heritage-related field (desirable).
