we are looking to hire a Loan Writer to take carriage of residential loan applications from initial assessment through to settlement. This is a file ownership role, not data entry. The prospect will prepare the credit case, drive the application through the lender, and keep clients and referrers informed throughout. Main responsibilities will include:
- Review income, liabilities and supporting documents, complete servicing calculations, and scenario modelling
- Research lender policy and work with the broker for allocating each scenario to the right lender and structure
- Prepare and lodge applications, and supporting notes via ApplyOnline to a standard that needs no rework
- Drive files from lodgement through assessment, valuation, approval, loan documents and settlement
- Respond to MIRs and lender conditions promptly, and coordinate valuers, solicitors and settlement agents
- Monitor the pipeline, flag files at risk of delay and escalate early
- Collect documents from clients and keep clients, referrers and third parties updated at each milestone
- Identify gaps or risks in a file and propose solutions before they become lender queries
- Meet NCCP, lender and internal documentation requirements, and maintain accurate records in MyCRM, ApplyOnline and lender systems
- Prepare comparisons and client summaries internally,
and support the broker on proposals and application strategy
Experience and skills required
- 2 to 3 years experience in residential loan writing or mortgage broking support
- Demonstrated experience preparing and lodging applications across a broad residential lender panel, including major banks, non-banks and specialist lenders
- Working knowledge of lender credit policy and the ability to interpret policy documents
- Proven experience managing files from submission through to settlement, including MIR responses and lender escalation
- Confident use of lender servicing calculators and broker portals
- MyCRM & ApplyOnline (AOL) experience is essential
- Robust written communication. This role produces documents that lenders read and act on
- High attention to detail and the ability to run multiple live files without losing track of any of them
- This will initially be a full time in office role, with flexibility once established
Highly regarded
- Cert IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking or Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management
- Exposure to self-employed and Alt Doc applications, including reading company financial statements, trust structures and business tax returns
- Exposure to SMSF and non-bank lending
