Fitter / Machinist

Location: Bayswater (moving to South Guildford in the coming months), Perth WA

Practon Mining is a valve and engineering specialist supporting mining and industrial clients across WA. We’re a small, capable team known for solving problems. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a skilled Machinist / Fitter to join the workshop.

The role – hands on, practical work

This is a workshop-based role focused on machining, fitting, and valve work. You’ll be working on a variety of jobs, often requiring careful thinking and attention to detail rather than repetitive production work.

You’ll be doing things like:

· Manual machining and lathe work on valve components and related equipment

· Strip-down, inspection, repair and assembly of valves and mechanical equipment

· Reading drawings and working to tolerances

· General fitting and workshop duties

· Assisting with job setup and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently

· Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workshop

You’re comfortable working independently but also contribute well to a small team.

You’ll likely have:

· Trade qualification as a Fitter / Machinist (or similar)

· Solid manual machining and lathe experience

· Experience with valve work or mechanical repairs (highly regarded but not essential)

· Ability to read drawings and work to specifications

· Strong attention to detail and safety awareness, good attitude and willingness problem solve

· Welding experience
