About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Assistant Accountant to support the financial integrity and operational performance of the business and grow within the business.

This role is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust accounting records, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and payroll.

Working closely with the finance team and key stakeholders across the business, you will play an important role in providing financial insights that support informed decision-making. You will also provide cross-functional support within the finance function to ensure continuity of operations during periods of leave or increased workload and will report to our financial controller.

This role requires you to work 5 days on-site.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Complete month-end and year-end accounting processes.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
- Prepare and post journals, including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation.
- Maintain the fixed asset register.
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Review supplier purchase orders, invoices, and account statements.
- Perform monthly invoicing and scheduling audits.
- Prepare and reconcile BAS, IAS, FBT, payroll tax, and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Assist with insurance renewals and related administrative requirements.
- Provide support across all finance functions during periods of staff leave to ensure business continuity.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes through automation, AI, and emerging technologies.
- Fortnightly payroll.
- Assist the finance team and our financial controller with the transition of our ERP and Inventory system.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A minimum of 5 years' experience in an accounting role.
- Payroll experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment (preferred but not essential).
- Strong technology skills with a genuine interest in learning and adopting AI-powered tools.
- A willingness to embrace change, improve processes through automation, and contribute to innovation within the finance function.
