What you'll do
- Design and implement scalable software solutions for live streaming services, focusing on performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to define and refine requirements for new features and enhancements.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while adhering to best practices in software development.
- Conduct code reviews to ensure high-quality standards and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to live streaming and video playback.
- Optimize existing systems for improved performance and user experience, leveraging data-driven insights.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from concept through deployment and maintenance.
- Mentor junior engineers, sharing your expertise and fostering a culture of continuous learning within the team.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to streamline deployment processes and enhance system reliability.
- Engage in regular sprint planning and retrospectives to ensure alignment with team goals and objectives.
- Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing to facilitate team collaboration and onboarding of new members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of skilled software engineering experience, with a focus on live streaming or video technologies.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python, with a strong understanding of software design principles.
- Experience with cloud services, particularly AWS or Azure, and knowledge of microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with video streaming protocols (e.g., HLS, DASH) and content delivery networks (CDNs).
- Solid understanding of database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL, and experience with data modeling.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- A passion for delivering high-quality software and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Nice to have
- Experience with front-end technologies such as React or Angular for building user interfaces.
- Knowledge of video encoding and transcoding processes, as well as experience with media players.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira or Trello for project management.
- Contributions to open-source projects or a portfolio showcasing relevant work.
- Understanding of security best practices in software development, particularly in the context of streaming services.
