We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Workshop Technician (Fabricator) to join our growing Engineering Workshop team. You will represent your parts at integration meetings with both internal and external stakeholders and resolve issues as they arise. You will play a key role in the hands-on fabrication, modification, assembly and preparation of prototype, pre-production and specialist vehicle components.

What you'll be doing:
Fabricating steel and aluminium prototype parts, brackets, fixtures, panels and assemblies to a high standard of accuracy and finish
Performing MIG and TIG welding on aluminium and steel, applying appropriate preparation, weld quality and finishing practices
Operating workshop equipment including manual lathe, mill, brake press/folding machine, grinders, cutting equipment and general fabrication tools
Disassembling, modifying and reassembling vehicles, vehicle systems and components while maintaining build quality and functional integrity
Interpreting CAD drawings, engineering sketches, work instructions and physical vehicle measurements to develop practical fabrication solutions
Working closely with engineers,
technical staff and project teams to resolve build issues, provide practical feedback and support continuous design improvement
Planning and completing assigned tasks independently while contributing effectively within a workshop and engineering team environment
Supplying, using and maintaining personal trade tools required for mechanical and fabrication work; company-provided major fabrication and welding equipment is to be used appropriately and safely
Maintaining accurate work records, communicating progress and discussing issues promptly, and supporting orderly workshop practices.
Actively maintaining a safe work environment for self, colleagues and visitors by following company procedures, using appropriate PPE and identifying hazards
What we're looking for:
You’ll be successful in this role if you bring:
Trade qualification, apprenticeship, certificate or equivalent demonstrated experience in fabrication, welding, automotive, vehicle body building, mechanical or related technical discipline
5+ years relevant experience in vehicle, component or prototype manufacturing, with demonstrated ability in fabrication, welding, vehicle assembly and practical problem solving in a workshop environment
High attention to detail with a strong safety mindset
Adaptability and practical initiative
Well developed communication skills and a team-minded approach
Pride in workmanship and commitment to quality
