Lead the maintenance function for a well-established plastics manufacturer.
Our client is a respected Australian manufacturer with a robust reputation for quality, innovation and continuous improvement. Due to ongoing growth, they are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance team within their plastics manufacturing division based in Woodville.
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for leading the maintenance function, ensuring plant reliability, coordinating maintenance activities and driving a proactive maintenance culture across the site.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor or a Senior Maintenance Technician looking to step into a leadership position. You'll work closely with Operations and other departments to ensure equipment reliability, minimise downtime and support continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the maintenance team.
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs to maximise equipment reliability.
- Coordinate reactive maintenance and ensure timely resolution of equipment breakdowns.
- Manage maintenance work orders and asset records using a CMMS.
- Oversee spare parts inventory and procurement of maintenance materials.
- Coordinate external contractors and maintenance service providers.
- Support capital equipment installations and improvement projects.
- Investigate equipment failures and implement long-term corrective actions.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Work closely with Operations and Production to minimise downtime and improve plant performance.
- Foster a positive safety culture while developing and mentoring the maintenance team.
About You To be successful, you'll bring:
- Previous experience leading or supervising a maintenance team within a manufacturing environment.
- A Mechanical or Electrical Trade Qualification.
- Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance, asset reliability and maintenance planning.
- Experience using a CMMS such as MEX or similar.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Experience within plastics, packaging, FMCG or another fast-paced manufacturing environment will be highly regarded.
