A growing agricultural biotechnology company is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance & Manufacturing Lead to oversee the commercial production of cutting-edge microbial-based products supporting sustainable agriculture. This is a key leadership opportunity for a technically strong microbiology or bioprocessing professional who enjoys working at the intersection of science, manufacturing, and operational excellence.
You will play a critical role in scaling production capabilities, ensuring robust quality systems, and leading the transition of microbial technologies from development through to reliable commercial manufacturing. This role offers the chance to lead a critical manufacturing function within a growing biotech business, contributing to innovative solutions that support the future of sustainable agriculture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end microbial manufacturing operations, including fermentation, downstream processing, and formulation
- Oversee bioreactor operations across laboratory, pilot, and commercial scale
- Optimise fermentation processes to improve yield, consistency, and product performance
- Own quality systems, batch release, contamination control, audits, and regulatory compliance
- Drive process improvements, scale-up activities, and manufacturing efficiencies
- Build and mentor teams across manufacturing, QA, and QC functions
- Ensure safe and compliant handling of biological materials and production processes
About You:
- Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline (Masters/PhD advantageous)
- 8 years’ experience in microbial fermentation, bioprocessing, or microbial manufacturing
- Proven experience scaling bioreactor processes from R&D; through commercial production
- Strong background in quality assurance, QMS, and regulated manufacturing environments
- Experience with microbial formulations, blending, or biological products highly regarded
- Leadership experience within a manufacturing or production setting
