Operations Manager - Construction/Fabrication

A trusted Victorian shed builder established in 1976 that designs, manufactures, and constructs high quality steel buildings for a range of customers including farmers, schools, horse trainers, and warehouse owners and developers.

About the Role:

Our long-serving Operations Manager is retiring and we’re looking for a replacement.

You will be reporting directly to the CEO, and responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our drafting and detailing department, procurement, fabrication workshop and delivery, and our on-site construction projects.

We are looking for someone who can weigh in on the design process to ensure projects are scoped correctly, can lead and coordinate tradespeople by providing them with what they need to be productive, troubleshoot, and deliver good customer service.

Your base will be our HQ in Mulgrave, but there will be some travel to sites required.

You will be supported by an experienced team – many who have been working for us for decades.

Key responsibilities include:

Drafting and detailing – 2 people – oversight and checking of drawings

Delivery – 1 person – ensuring materials are available to your workshop and on-site teams when needed

Fabrication workshop – 2 people – overseeing productivity and troubleshooting





On-site construction teams – ~6 people mix of internal and subcontractor teams – coordinating resources to deliver projects efficiently and to a high quality

You will also need:

A willingness to take ownership for high-quality and efficient project delivery

Leadership and project management experience

A building-related qualification and experience that requires the use of engineering and fabrication drawings

Good computer literacy including MS Office (Outlook, Word & Excel)

An otherwise well-rounded skillset including communication, problem solving, people skills and stakeholder management
