The PARX Group is seeking a capable and practically minded Mechanical Design Engineer / Draftsperson to join our team.
This is a hands-on design role suited to someone who enjoys turning ideas and project requirements into accurate, buildable solutions. Working across our recreational infrastructure projects, you will develop 3D models based on concepts developed by our in-house Industrial Design team. You will be tasked to produce fabrication drawings and technical documentation for products that are produced, assembled and installed in the real world.
About the role
Working closely with our design, engineering, project delivery and manufacturing teams, you will contribute to the development of recreational products and project-specific design solutions.
Your responsibilities will include
- Developing detailed 3D models and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor
- Preparing accurate fabrication, manufacturing and assembly drawings
- Translating concepts, sketches and project requirements into practical, buildable designs
- Reviewing designs for manufacturability, installation, maintenance and safe operation
- Preparing bills of materials and supporting production documentation
- Managing drawing revisions, model updates and document control requirements
- Liaising with internal teams, fabricators, suppliers and external consultants
- Identifying design issues and contributing practical solutions
- Supporting the continued development and improvement of standard products, components and design processes
About you
You are technically capable, naturally curious and interested in understanding how things work, how they are made and how they can be improved.
To be successful in the role,
you will have:
- Demonstrated professional experience using Autodesk Inventor
- A qualification in mechanical drafting, engineering drafting, industrial design, mechanical design or another relevant technical discipline
- Experience developing detailed 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings
- A sound understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes
- The ability to interpret design briefs, sketches, technical information and project requirements
- Strong spatial awareness and practical problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a willingness to check your own work
- The ability to manage drawing revisions and maintain accurate technical documentation
- A collaborative approach and the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical team members
- The ability to work independently, manage priorities and take ownership of assigned work
What we are really looking for
We are looking for someone who can think through a design, ask sensible questions and consider how it will be manufactured, transported, assembled, installed and used.
You will enjoy this role if you:
- Like solving practical design problems
- Take pride in producing accurate, workshop-ready documentation
- Enjoy seeing your designs progress from a computer model into a finished product
- Are comfortable receiving feedback and refining your work
- Want exposure to varied projects rather than repeatedly designing the same thing
- Value quality, collaboration and continuous improvement
About PARX Group The PARX Group designs and delivers recreational spaces and products that encourage play, connection and memorable community experiences.
Our projects bring together design, engineering, fabrication, construction and project delivery. This gives our design team the opportunity to see their work progress from an initial concept through to manufacture, installation and final completion.
You will join a practical and collaborative team where positive ideas are encouraged, technical detail matters and everyone contributes to achieving a high-quality outcome.
What we offer
- Interesting and varied design work
- The opportunity to design products that are manufactured and installed
- Exposure to the complete project and product-delivery lifecycle
- A supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary team
- Opportunities to build your technical knowledge and capability
- A role where practical thinking and continuous improvement are valued
- Competitive salary based on skills and experience
How to apply
