Strathfieldsaye Sheet Metal Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled Fabricator / Sheet Metal Worker to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hands-on position based in East Bendigo, VIC 3550, where you will play a crucial role in the fabrication and construction of sheet metal components and structures. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for quality workmanship and delivering exceptional results to our clients. You will be working with cutting-edge equipment and traditional fabrication techniques to produce precision sheet metal products that meet exacting standards.

Key responsibilities

- Operate sheet metal machinery including guillotines, brake press’s, rollers, laser’s and welding equipment to cut, bend, and form sheet metal according to specifications
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to ensure accurate fabrication of components
- Measure and mark materials with precision to achieve required dimensions and tolerances
- Weld sheet metal components using various welding techniques, ensuring strong and aesthetic joins
- Assemble fabricated parts and components into finished products, utilising fixings and fasteners as required
- Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications before delivery
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols
- Perform routine maintenance and care of fabrication equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production deadlines and quality targets

What we're looking for

- Trade qualification or substantial practical experience as a sheet metal worker, fabricator, or similar role




- Proficiency in operating sheet metal machinery and welding equipment (MIG, TIG, stick welding)
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing work that meets tight tolerances and quality standards
- Physical fitness and capability to perform manual labour, lifting, and working in varied positions
- Solid understanding of health and safety practices relevant to sheet metal fabrication work
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Reliability, punctuality, and a solid work ethic
- Preferred: Experience in boilermaking or experience with custom fabrication projects
