About the role

As a Host Ranger, you will represent the Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) and play a key role in creating unforgettable experiences for walkers exploring the Three Capes Track.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of Tasmania’s premier tourism destinations—a 48-kilometre coastal walking track perched atop the tallest sea cliffs in the Southern Hemisphere.

In this role, you will ensure visitors have access to accurate information, interpretation, and practical support throughout their journey. You will bring the landscape to life by engaging guests through storytelling and sharing your knowledge of the area’s rich natural and cultural heritage.

Your responsibilities will also include administrative tasks such as managing bookings and maintaining visitor cabins to a high standard.

The Three Capes Track is a truly special part of the Tasman Peninsula, offering an incredible environment of beauty and natural diversity. This role provides a unique opportunity to apply your exceptional customer service skills while working in one of Tasmania’s most remarkable settings.

Fixed-term, part time (64 hours per fortnight) positions for up to 9 months.

Our ideal candidate

- Strong storytelling ability with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ready to engage with and captivate visitors.
- Commitment to creating exceptional customer experiences.
- Passion for the outdoors, natural and cultural heritage.
- Physical fitness and bushwalking experience.
- Working with Vulnerable People registration.

- Wilderness and/or Workplace Level 2 First Aid qualifications.

We offer

- An ideal position for those who want to escape the 9-5 and enjoy working in remote locations.
- Competitive salary, 12% superannuation contribution, and salary sacrificing options. Special staff benefits from nominated Health Funds and AVIS vehicle hire.
- Access to Fitness Passport, a corporate health and fitness program providing access to over 50 gyms and pools throughout Tasmania.
- Access to a free and confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
