We are seeking an experienced and friendly Medical Receptionist to join our welcoming team. This is an excellent prospect for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced medical environment and is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care.
Current Hours Available
Initially, this role will require:
- Monday afternoon (5 hours)
- Thursday morning (5 hours)
As our practice continues to grow, additional hours are expected to become available.
About the Position
As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and professional experience while supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Greeting patients and managing front desk operations
- Answering telephone enquiries and scheduling appointments
- Welcoming patients and providing exceptional customer service in person and over the phone
- Managing appointment bookings and patient enquiries
- Processing Medicare, private billing and receipting accurately
- Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring confidentiality
- Entering, scanning, filing and faxing patient documentation
- Providing administrative support to doctors, nurses and the Practice Manager
- Providing patients with information regarding appointments and procedures
- Assisting with general reception and administrative duties as required
- Prepare the doctor’s room and reception area by restocking supplies, tidying the reception, and ensuring all areas are clean and organised.
- Set up for the next working day by restocking rooms, changing bin liners, and handling pathology samples according to practice procedures.

About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a busy administration/customer service role
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills
- A friendly, compassionate and professional manner
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Intermediate computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new software
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Flexibility to work additional shifts when needed.
- Flexibility to cover additional shifts during periods of leave or increased demand is essential.
Experience using Best Practice, HotDoc, Medicare Online, or similar medical practice software will be highly regarded but is not essential.
Essential Criteria
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Medical Receptionist
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Accurate data entry and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy environment
- Reliable, adaptable and professional
- Australian work rights
