A globally recognised construction and cost consultancy is seeking a Mechanical Lead to take on a senior technical role within their Sydney office. This is not a people management position, it's an chance for a commercially minded mechanical professional to do genuinely interesting work, alongside some of the most experienced practitioners in the field.
The role
You will be responsible for cost planning across the full spectrum of building engineering services, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, hydraulics, and vertical transportation. Day to day, that means feasibility studies, value engineering, benchmarking, assessment of variations, and direct client advisory. You will also contribute to the development of junior staff through internal training and knowledge sharing.
No two days look the same here. You will frequently be asked to work from limited information,
form educated assumptions, and back them confidently to clients. That is a feature of the role, not a limitation.

- A strong HVAC background; broader building services knowledge is an advantage
- The ability to think commercially, like a QS, not just an engineer
- Confidence working with incomplete information and explaining your reasoning
- Advanced Excel skills; proprietary estimating software training is provided
- A degree in Engineering or Construction Management
