Microsoft 365 & Security Architect

We're seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Contemporary Work & Security Architect to support a Microsoft 365 and Azure tenant transition engagement, responsible for assessing the current environment, documenting existing architecture, identifying security and operational gaps, and developing target-state recommendations to support a future migration program.

This is a strategic architecture and discovery role focused on assessment, stakeholder engagement, documentation, and roadmap development rather than hands-on implementation.

- Up to $1,100 per day inclusive of super
- Hybrid working – Perth CBD based
- Opportunity to shape the architecture and roadmap for a significant M365/Azure transition program

THE ROLE: Working closely with technical and business stakeholders, you will lead discovery and assessment activities across Microsoft 365, Intune, Endpoint Management, and Security environments, producing current-state architecture documentation and target-state recommendations to support a future migration program.

Key responsibilities include:

- Conduct discovery workshops with technical and business stakeholders
- Assess the current Microsoft 365, Intune, Endpoint Management, and Security environments
- Review identity, access management, compliance, and security configurations
- Perform security assessments aligned to Essential Eight and Microsoft security best practices
- Produce current-state architecture documentation, including Microsoft 365 services inventory, identity and access architecture, endpoint management architecture, and security and compliance controls
- Identify gaps, risks, technical debt, and migration considerations
- Develop target-state architecture recommendations
- Contribute to executive-level assessment outcomes and recommendations
- Support roadmap development for future migration and transformation activities
- Present findings and recommendations to customer stakeholders and technical teams

A leading organisation undertaking a significant Microsoft 365 and Azure tenant transition engagement, requiring experienced architecture leadership to support assessment, discovery and roadmap development ahead of a future migration program.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

- 7+ years working within Microsoft Modern Workplace and Security architectures
- Demonstrated experience conducting Microsoft 365 tenant assessments and discovery engagements
- Strong experience across Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Defender Suite, Microsoft Purview, Conditional Access, Identity Governance, Zero Trust Architecture, Security Baselines, and Compliance & Information Protection
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, Endpoint Manager, Windows 10/11 management, device compliance and configuration policies, and application deployment strategies
- Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills
- Experience developing architecture artefacts and executive reports
- Strong understanding of Essential Eight and security maturity assessments
- Experience with large enterprise or government environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Desirable: Experience supporting Microsoft 365 or tenant-to-tenant migration programs
- Desirable: Previous experience working within government or regulated industries
