Your role:

As a Military Police member, you'll conduct a range of roles including Law Enforcement, Mobility and Manoeuvre Support, Internment and Detention and Security Operations. You’ll maintain the law and provide specialist security across a variety of ADF activities including high-threat situations. Once trained, you’ll conduct general policing tasks within field, barracks and operational environments.

Your Military duties include, but aren’t limited to:

- assisting with the control and coordination of military force movement
- reconnaissance, traffic control and security of the Military Road network
- policing patrols in support of crime prevention and deterrence activities
- emergency and incident response
- maintenance of general law and order
- lawful collection and processing of captured personnel (POWs)
- asset protection including buildings and critical infrastructure.

Location: Military Police are employed in support of most major bases within Australia.



Principal employment locations on completion of initial employment training are Darwin, Townsville and Brisbane. After gaining experience you may have the opportunity to be located in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne as well as regional locations across Australia.

Salary:

In the Army you'll get paid a competitive salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications. Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $60,517 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training.

On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $86,453 per annum plus generous super.

Eligibility:

For this role, you must:

- Be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics
- If you are not an Australian Citizen, please visit the ADF Careers Eligibility Page to confirm you meet the requirements for a career in the ADF
- Hold at least a current provisional/probationary driver’s licence or full licence at the time of enlistment
- Be reasonably fit and healthy.Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare
- Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance
