GRIFFIN COAL Griffin Coal is a long established Western Australian coal producer supporting domestic power generation and key industrial customers. We are seeking a motivated Mining Engineer to join our Technical Services team and contribute to safe, productive and cost effective mine planning.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent, the Mining Engineer provides engineering support across planning, design and operational improvement activities. You will play a key role in developing practical, accurate and compliant mine plans that support production outcomes.

Key responsibilities include

- Developing short, medium and long‑term mine plans aligned to operational requirements.
- Ensuring mine plans, designs and schedules are accurate, current and compliant with statutory obligations.
- Preparing conceptual plans outlining coal and overburden movement budgets.
- Producing dig/dump sequence plans and drill and blast plans.




- Applying cost‑benefit analysis techniques to optimise performance and minimise cost.
- Supporting integration between planning, load and haul and drill and blast teams.

THE PERSON The ideal candidate will bring:

- 3–5 years’ experience in open‑cut coal mining engineering.
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a collaborative working style.
- Proficiency in MS Office and experience with Deswik and Spry scheduling.
- Valid Australian working rights.

THE LOCATION & LIFESTYLE Griffin Coal Mine is located near Collie, a town which is located approximately 45 minutes from the coastal city of Bunbury and approximately 2.5 hours from the capital city of Perth, Western Australia.
