Associate Scientist, Immunology at Flagship Pioneering, Inc.

About the role We are looking for a dedicated Associate Scientist specializing in Immunology to join our therapeutic discovery team. This position will involve hands-on laboratory work utilizing both in vitro and ex vivo methods. The ideal candidate will be independent, results-driven, and capable of managing multiple projects effectively in a dynamic setting.

What you’ll do

- Independently design and conduct in vitro assays to assess immune cell functionality, employing techniques such as multi-color flow cytometry and cytotoxicity assays.
- Perform ex vivo evaluations of immune cells, including tissue processing and subsequent assays.
- Develop, implement, and troubleshoot experimental protocols with guidance from senior team members, while maintaining accurate electronic laboratory notebook records.
- Analyze and present experimental findings during team meetings.

Requirements

- A BS or MS degree in biology, immunology, bioengineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience in immunology or immunotherapy.
- Proficient experimental skills, including tissue culture, primary immune cell culture, flow cytometry, and immunoassay development,



as well as experience with ex vivo processing of mouse and non-human primate samples.
- Familiarity with non-viral delivery technologies and nucleic acid applications is preferred.
- Experience working with primary human and/or non-human primate T cells is advantageous.
- Detail-oriented, self-driven, and capable of handling complex technical projects.
- Highly adaptable and responsive to demanding timelines and commitments.

Nice to have

- Experience with advanced immunological techniques and assays.

Skills & tools

- Proficient in tissue culture, flow cytometry, and immunoassay development.
- Familiarity with electronic lab notebook systems and data analysis software.

- The salary for this position ranges from $96,000 to $126,500, depending on qualifications, skills, and experience.
