Broad commercial disputes and court work
Minimum 4-5 years' litigation experience essential
Our client is a full-service Australian law firm with a strong presence across Sydney and
Melbourne, known for delivering commercially grounded legal advice to businesses, government
entities and sophisticated private clients. Its Commercial Litigation practice advises across
complex contractual, corporate, property, insolvency and reputational disputes.
This is a well-rounded opportunity for an experienced commercial litigator seeking genuine
responsibility, direct client contact and exposure to a diverse range of disputes. You will manage
matters from initial advice through to resolution, working alongside experienced practitioners and
liaising with barristers, experts and other stakeholders. If you are technically robust, commercially
minded and ready to take greater ownership of your matters, this is worth a closer look.
The role will also require you to:
Manage the day-to-day conduct of commercial litigation files, including taking instructions, developing case strategies and maintaining regular client communication.
Draft advice, pleadings, evidence,
correspondence and other court documents to a high standard of accuracy and commercial clarity.
Prepare matters for hearings, mediations and settlements, including advocacy and briefing barristers, experts and consultants.
Act across contractual, shareholder, partnership, joint venture, property, leasing, insolvency, construction and reputational disputes.
Build strong client relationships, supervise junior team members and contribute to the practice’s business development activities.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor of Laws or equivalent qualification and a current Australian practising certificate.
A minimum of 4-5 years' commercial litigation experience gained within a reputable law firm.
Strong drafting, advocacy, negotiation and file-management skills, with experience managing matters through the litigation process.
A commercial, solutions-focused approach with the initiative and professionalism to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Experience supervising junior lawyers or support staff would be valued, while familiarity with
Practice Evolve would be advantageous but is not essential.
