About the role
In this role, you will work with a highly motivated team of professionals responsible for delivering a large and complex portfolio of capital works. You will drive improvements to project delivery practices by enhancing systems, processes and reporting. Working across Council, you'll provide expert advice, simplify ways of working, build capability and help teams adopt effective tools and frameworks to strengthen project delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Contribute to the delivery of Capital Delivery strategies and plans through targeted improvement initiatives.
- Provide expert project management advice to the Capital Delivery department, department leaders and key stakeholders.
- Support the implementation, administration, and ongoing improvement of project management systems and tools used for capital project delivery.
- Liaise with business users, system administrators, and IT to ensure systems meet operational and reporting needs.
- Build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships through clear communication.
- Train and actively support others in the team by sharing knowledge to achieve common development goals.
- Execute, monitor, and report on work progress against plans and initiatives to ensure timely delivery in line with the relevant regulations and policies.
- Support routine problem-solving and continuous improvement activities by identifying and addressing gaps and inefficiencies to minimise financial waste.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant qualification in project management, construction management, business management or similar and or significant relevant professional experience in a comparable organisation.
- Demonstrated experience in business improvement, project management support, or PMO functions, preferably within local government or a large, complex organisation.
- Experience preparing reports, analysing and interpreting data, and presenting insights to senior leaders and governance forums.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, governance, and lifecycle management.
- Demonstrated ability to provide advice and support to stakeholders on project management processes, reporting and systems.
- Effective stakeholder management skills and the ability to work collaboratively to achieve outcomes.
- A current Working with Children Check (Employee).
- Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
