Workforce Extensions Geelong is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established Australian food manufacturer, seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter/Fitter & Turner to join their maintenance team in Braybrook.

About the Role
Working across a busy manufacturing facility, you'll be responsible for maintaining the reliability and performance of production equipment through preventative maintenance, breakdown response and ongoing improvement initiatives.
You'll enjoy a varied role working across processing and packaging equipment while supporting production to minimise downtime and maximise plant efficiency.
The Position
- Permanent full-time opportunity
- Braybrook location
- 4 weeks on day shift followed by 1 week on afternoon shift
- 25% afternoon shift loading
- Competitive hourly rate between $50-$56 per hour, depending on experience and classification

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative maintenance across manufacturing equipment
- Attend breakdowns and perform mechanical fault finding
- Repair and overhaul pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings and rotating equipment
- Install and commission mechanical equipment when required
- Complete planned maintenance and shutdown work
- Assist with equipment upgrades and continuous improvement projects
- Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment reliability
- Maintain high standards of workplace safety and food safety compliance
About You
To be successful, you'll ideally have:
- Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or Fitter & Turner
- Strong mechanical fault-finding ability
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Experience maintaining conveyors, pumps, gearboxes and production equipment
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- Experience using maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team
Experience within any of the following industries will be highly regarded:
- Food manufacturing
- FMCG
- Beverage manufacturing
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Packaging
- Automated production environments
- Additional licences such as Forklift, EWP, Working at Heights or Confined Space would also be advantageous but are not essential.
