Non-Executive Director – Maritime Expertise An opportunity has arisen to contribute to the future direction of one of Tasmania’s most key and high-profile organisations.

TT-Line Company Pty Limited is a state-owned corporation and operator of the Spirit of Tasmania passenger vessels and freight service. The organisation plays a critical role in Tasmania’s economy, freight connectivity, tourism sector and broader visitor experience.

The Board of Directors operates independently, representing the interests of shareholders while providing strategic leadership, governance, risk oversight and stewardship in a complex commercial, operational and public policy environment. Directors are appointed by the Minister and contribute to a skills-based Board operating within a legislative and government-owned corporation framework.

Following a complete refresh of the Board in late 2024 and early 2025, TT-Line is continuing its business turnaround, rebuilding public trust and entering a critical phase of transformation. This includes the introduction of two new vessels, a new terminal facility in Devonport, and a continued focus on strengthening the organisation’s commercial, operational and stakeholder settings.

The Board is now seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Non-Executive Director with maritime, ports, freight, logistics, shipping, terminal operations or regulated transport experience.

The successful candidate will bring practical operating insight, commercial judgement and governance maturity.



They will be able to contribute to strategic decision-making across areas such as maritime operations, freight and logistics, port and terminal interfaces, safety, risk, stakeholder engagement, governance and major asset transition.

This opportunity will suit candidates with senior executive, board or advisory experience in environments such as:

- maritime operations;
- ports and terminal operations;
- ferry or passenger vessel services;
- freight, logistics or shipping;
- marine infrastructure;
- regulated transport;
- major transport assets; or
- complex government-owned operating environments.

Candidates will need to be strategic, commercially astute and comfortable operating in a high-profile environment where the Board continues to support business improvement, transformation and public confidence. The ability to work constructively with government, industry, customers, employees, unions and the Tasmanian community will be important. An understanding of Tasmania’s operating environment will be highly regarded, although candidates may be located outside Tasmania where they bring highly relevant maritime and commercial expertise.
