Fortem Projects builds architecturally designed renovations, heritage restorations and bespoke new homes across Melbourne's inner suburbs. We're not a volume builder — we take on a small number of complex, high-end projects and deliver them properly.

We're looking for an experienced Site Manager to run these jobs (2M–8M+) from ground to handover. It's a site-based role with real ownership: you lead the trades, drive the program, protect quality, and keep the site running to a standard that reflects the calibre of the work.

Why this role is different

You’ll work directly with the directors. Chris and Stu stay hands‑on across every project — you're not buried under three layers of management, and decisions get made quickly.

The work is genuinely interesting. Period homes, basements, structural work, high‑end joinery and finishes. The detailed end of residential, not repetitive product.

You run your site. Lean team, real autonomy, and the backing to do the job well rather than being flogged across half a dozen jobs at once.

Quality over quantity. We'd rather do fewer projects to an exceptional standard than chase volume.

What you’ll be responsible for

Managing all on-site construction activities in line with contract documentation

Leading trades with clarity, structure and high standards

Running efficient, professional site meetings with architects and consultants

Maintaining strict adherence to variation approval processes





Managing quality control and defect prevention

Monitoring program and productivity, and driving momentum onsite

Protecting site safety and compliance

Managing material procurement and site logistics

Maintaining site presentation and cleanliness to a standard that reflects the calibre of the work

Keeping accurate site documentation through Procore and our internal systems

Contributing to a respectful, high‑performance site culture

What we’re looking for

5+ years delivering high‑end residential projects

Carpentry trade background essential

Strong experience working under architect‑administered contracts

Exceptional attention to detail and finish quality

Deep understanding of the NCC and Australian Standards

Commercial awareness and cost‑conscious decision making

Comfortable using construction management software (Procore preferred)

A calm, solutions‑focused communicator who takes ownership and leads from the front

Current White Card and driver’s licence

Full Australian working rights (citizenship or permanent residency)
