We are currently seeking a Senior Laboratory Operations Specialist to support the day-to-day operations of our fast-paced laboratory environment. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a energetic lab environment, supporting researchers, and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

About the Role

As part of the Laboratory Operations Team, you will play a key role in ensuring the laboratory operates efficiently, safely, and in line with established protocols. This role combines hands-on laboratory support, stakeholder engagement, and operational coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations

- Coordinate and support laboratory activities, including scheduling, setup, equipment oversight, and operational uptime
- Maintain a clean, protected, and organized laboratory environment
- Ensure lab supplies are stocked and readily available
- Monitor adherence to laboratory safety protocols

Stakeholder Support & Training





- Build strong relationships with lab users, students, and external partners
- Provide guidance on lab procedures and protocols
- Assist with onboarding and training of new users

Inventory & Equipment Management

- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate ordering of consumables
- Ensure equipment is calibrated, maintained, and functioning correctly
- Troubleshoot issues and coordinate repairs with external vendors
- Support the optimization of lab procedures and workflows
- Development and implementation of new processes, associated documentation and risk assessments
- Facilitate laboratory stand-up meetings with researchers to strengthen communication, identify issues, and support continuous improvement opportunities

Data, Compliance & Safety

- Maintain accurate lab records and documentation
- Support reporting, grant preparation, and presentations
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, including waste disposal and audits

About You

You are organized, proactive, and enjoy being the person who keeps things running smoothly.

You bring:

- A qualification in science (biology, chemistry, biotech, or related field), or equivalent experience
- Experience working in a medical, research, or similar laboratory environment, with practical operational experience supporting day-to-day laboratory activities
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Sound understanding of laboratory safety and compliance requirements
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and general systems
- Experience within regulated laboratory environments (ISO, GLP, GMP) will be highly regarded
