The Opportunity
Peabody is seeking an experienced Outbye Mechanical Coordinator to join our team at Centurion Mine, located approximately 160 kilometres west of Mackay.
Reporting to the Outbye Superintendent, you will be responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance and ongoing development of critical underground infrastructure, including conveyor systems. This is a key leadership role focused on maximising equipment performance, driving maintenance excellence and supporting the safe and efficient delivery of the mine plan.
Your Impact
- Lead a systematic approach to identifying and delivering sustainable mechanical maintenance processes and practices.
- Provide leadership, coaching and development to mechanical maintenance crews.
- Ensure optimal equipment performance to support production targets and mine plan delivery.
- Manage relationships with OEMs, contractors and key stakeholders.
- Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance teams.
- Ensure all statutory inspections, maintenance tooling and safety equipment requirements are maintained and compliant.
- Maintain underground equipment compliance in line with site standards and legislative requirements.
- Assist with budget development and expenditure management through SAP maintenance and purchasing systems.
- Oversee and provide guidance in the execution of weekly maintenance and shutdown schedules.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory and site requirements.
About You You are a safety-focused leader with strong mechanical maintenance experience and a passion for developing people, improving equipment reliability and delivering operational results.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Mechanical trade qualification or Engineering degree.
- Minimum two years' experience in a supervisory or similar leadership role within an underground coal mining operation.
- Extensive knowledge of conveyor systems, conveyor maintenance and conveyor management.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and the ability to foster and maintain a positive safety culture.
- Supervisor qualifications (S1, S2, S3 and G2).
- Strong leadership capability with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
- Experience using SAP or similar computerised maintenance management systems.
- Proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of risk management and hazard identification.
- A flexible, collaborative and team-focused approach.
