About theMental Health Division
The Mental Health Division provides care and services through a comprehensive range of teams to meet the needs of mental health consumers and carers throughout Victoria. Services arelocatedacross Austin Health and in the community.
All mental health services work within a clinical framework that promotes recovery-oriented practice and supported decision making. This approach to client wellbeing builds on the strengths of the individual working in partnership with their treating team. It encompasses the principles of self-determination and individualised treatment and care.
This role will be working in the Acute Psychiatric Unit.
About the role
An opportunity currently exists for a contemporary and experienced Mental Health Nurse to join the Mental Health Nursing Education and Training Team as a Clinical Support Nurse.
In your role, as a Clinical Support Nurse, you will be pivotal in advancing mental health nursing care through evidenced based and contemporary nursing education and training.
A regular day will see you:
Work in partnership with mental health nursing education & training team members, Clinical Nurse Consultant, and Nurse Unit Manager of APU to support best clinical practice of early career nurses through development and delivery of an education program that are designed to increase mental health nursing knowledge, skill capacity, and improved patient outcomes.
Provide professional supervision to support and ensure the effective delivery of quality clinical services.
Coordinate and provide nursing education and training activities, including promoting mandatory training and other training packages.
About you
To be successful in this roleyou’llbring with you:
Post Graduate Qualification in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent
Registered Nurse, Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
Mental health clinical experience in a range of clinical settings, particularly acute inpatient services
Highly developed communication and teaching skills to effectively support a wide range of nursing experience and skill level.
