About this role

We have a great chance for an experienced Payroll officer to join a genuinely purpose-driven and diverse organisation - Level 3.4, Max-term contract for up to 6 months. The Payroll Officer will support the Payroll Manager to effectively deliver payroll services to Multicultural Australia employees,



ensuring that deliverables are met and that payroll functions are carried out in line with legislation.

Responsibilities:

- Assist with the processing of a complex, end-to-end fortnightly payroll for permanent and casual staff, ensuring all payroll transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with the processing fortnightly and month-end payroll related payments, including PAYG withholding tax and LSL levy.
- Ensure accuracy of salary sacrifice deductions, superannuation, relevant leave, single touch payroll and workers compensation payments.
- Collect, calculate and enter data in order to maintain and update payroll information and resolve discrepancies.
- Share responsibility for payroll reporting including financial reconciliations.
- Assist with the administration of the payroll function of the organisation’s HRIS “Aurion”.
- Assist with the management and resolution of staff payroll and superannuation-related enquiries.
- Work with the People, Culture and Safety as well as the Finance and Procurement teams to develop, document and continuously improve payroll and payroll-related processes and procedures.
- Interpret MA’s Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) and translate business requirements into payroll functions as necessary.
- Contribute to payroll, People, Culture and Safety and Finance and Procurement-related projects and process improvement initiatives as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

Qualifications, licences and probity





- A Diploma in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
- National Police Clearance Check.

Essential Skills / Experience

- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in years’ experience in a similar role with a strong understanding of the end-to-end payroll process.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Aurion HRIS and payroll system.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Knowledge of current legislation (Superannuation, Industrial Relations, Taxation, Payroll etc.) impacting on the employment relationship, as well as awards and employment agreements.
- Highly developed problem solving and analytical skills.
- Professional, positive, and effective communication and collaboration skills across all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to show professionalism in all aspects of work role.
- The ability to adapt to changing environments, work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

Desirable Skills / Experience

- Experience in a not-for-profit, multicultural work environment would be an advantage but not essential.
