Position: Plumbing Inspector

Salary starting from: Level 5.1 $100,961- Level 6.3 $115,073 Superannuation

Are you an experienced plumber looking for a career change away from the tools into a role where your technical knowledge can make a meaningful difference? This is your opportunity to step into local government as a Plumbing Inspector and help protect community health, safety and environmental outcomes across Logan.

As a Plumbing Inspector, you will form part of Logan City Council's Plumbing Services team, supporting quality assessments, inspections and investigations of complex plumbing and drainage designs and installations. You will use your practical trade experience, judgement and customer-focused approach to assess compliance, provide transparent advice and contribute to better outcomes for residents, applicants.

Please note, this position is for a 12-month maximum term contract, with the possibility of extension.

Position Responsibilities will include:

- Assess plumbing and drainage designs, installations and related work for compliance with the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018, the Plumbing and Drainage Regulation 2019 and relevant plumbing standards.
- Undertake inspections, assessments and investigations across a range of plumbing and drainage matters.
- Identify compliant and non-compliant work and apply sound professional judgement when making recommendations or decisions.
- Provide a professional, respectful and customer-oriented experience to stakeholders, including applicants, residents, plumbers, builders, developers and internal Council teams.
- Prepare transparent written recommendations, records and correspondence that accurately describe complex plumbing and drainage matters.
- Contribute to a collaborative team culture focused on practical problem solving, legislative compliance and community outcomes.

Qualification, knowledge, skills, and experience

- A current Queensland Plumbing and Drainage licence, together with relevant technical experience and knowledge of applicable legislation, standards and Council local laws.
- Strong practical plumbing experience and the ability to apply that knowledge in a regulatory, assessment or inspection environment.
- Confidence interpreting technical information, identifying risk and documenting evidence-based recommendations.
- Highly developed communication skills (both written and verbal) to engage and communicate with a diverse range of people
- A cooperative, engaging and community-focused mindset.
- Local government plumbing inspection experience is beneficial, but not essential. If you are ready to transition from the tools into a regulatory career, we encourage you to apply.

Mandatory Requirements

- Current "C" Class Driver Licence.
- Ability to complete and pass mandatory position recruitment checks and background checks relevant to the role
