A leading Defence industry organisation is seeking an experienced Policy Officer. We are seeking an experienced Policy Officer with a strong background in policy development, analysis, and stakeholder engagement to join a Canberra-based organisation in a permanent capacity. This is an excellent chance for a professional who can translate complex information into clear, practical policy advice and deliver high-quality written products.

Your new role Reporting to senior leadership, you will: Lead the research, development, review, and implementation of policies and frameworks.

Prepare high-quality policy papers, briefs, submissions, ministerial correspondence, and reports. Analyse complex legislative, regulatory, and strategic issues to inform decision-making. Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support policy outcomes.

Contribute to governance, risk, and compliance activities as required. Provide timely and well-researched advice to senior executives. What you'll need to succeed

Demonstrated experience in policy development, policy analysis, and policy writing/ APS5/6 equivalent.



Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to produce concise and influential policy documents. Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.

Excellent stakeholder engagement and consultation skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes. Current NV1 Security Clearance (essential).
