Position Summary

The Fire Portable Services Technician is responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, installation and replacement of portable fire protection equipment in accordance with Australian Standards, relevant legislation and company procedures. The technician represents the company on-site and is expected to provide a high level of customer service while ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection, Testing & Maintenance

- Conduct routine inspection, testing and maintenance of:

- Portable fire extinguishers

- Fire blankets

- Hose reels

- Fire hydrants (where appropriately trained)

- Exit and emergency lighting

- Fire doors (where trained)

- Complete servicing in accordance with:

- AS 1851

- AS 2444

- AS 2293

- Relevant NCC requirements

- State-based fire safety legislation

Installation & Repairs

- Install portable fire equipment.

- Replace expired or defective extinguishers and fire blankets.

- Replace hose reel components.

- Carry out minor repairs where permitted.





- Recommend replacement of equipment that is beyond economical repair.

Compliance Reporting

- Identify defects and non-compliances.

- Record findings accurately using the company's field software (e.g. Uptick).

- Photograph defects where required.

- Prepare clear recommendations for rectification works.

- Ensure reports are completed before leaving site where practical.

Customer Service

- Liaise professionally with clients, tenants and site representatives.

- Explain defects and compliance issues in an appropriate manner.

- Notify the office of access issues, hazards or customer concerns.

- Maintain a qualified appearance and attitude at all times.

Vehicle & Equipment

- Maintain company vehicle in a clean and roadworthy condition.

- Maintain stock levels of commonly used equipment.

- Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated and in good working order.

- Report damaged or missing equipment immediately.
