About the Role

ALS Environmentalare seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician – Microbiology to join ourclose-knitteamin Darwin.

The successful candidate will support routine microbiological testing, sample processing, and laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Required Availability

During the training period, this role will beminimum4-hours per day,Monday to Friday. Thereafter,it will be a rotating rosterwith aminimumof4-hours per dayacrossMonday to Sunday.

This opportunity is initially offered on a part-time basis, with the opportunity to progress to a full time position depending on business requirements and individual performance.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform routine microbiological testing in accordance with approved methods and procedures.
- Receive, register, and process samples accurately and within required turnaround times.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Conduct routine equipment checks, maintenance, and calibration activities.
- Support environmental monitoring and quality control programs.
- Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), quality standards, and workplace safety requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the laboratory.
- Work collaboratively with laboratory staff to ensure timely release of results and efficient workflow management.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

- Qualifications in Microbiology, Biological Sciences,Environmental, or a related field a minimum requirement of Diploma or Certificate in Laboratory Techniques IV.
- Previous laboratory experience in microbiology or a relatedlaboratory experience(preferred but not essential).
- Knowledge of microbiological techniques and aseptic practices would be desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.




- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Flexibility to workmornings, afternoon andweekendshiftsand increased hours as operational requirements evolve.
