About the Role

As a Junior Database Engineer, you will support the administration, monitoring and maintenance of Oracle database environments and Exadata platforms. Working closely with senior Database Administrators, you will gain hands-on experience across database operations, patching, backup and recovery, performance monitoring and infrastructure support.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform routine Oracle database administration, monitoring and health checks.
- Support database backups, recovery and RMAN activities.
- Assist with Oracle and Exadata patching, including quarterly Critical Patch Updates (CPUs).
- Support Oracle Grid Infrastructure and RAC environments.
- Monitor database performance and assist with troubleshooting.




- Participate in disaster recovery testing and backup validation.
- Document operational procedures and technical runbooks.
- Manage incidents and service requests within agreed service levels.
- Assist with database upgrades, migrations and ongoing maintenance.
- Follow security, change management and compliance requirements.
- Participate in an on-call roster when required.

About You

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 1-3 years' experience supporting Oracle database environments.
- Good understanding of Oracle Database architecture.
- Knowledge of RMAN backup and recovery.
- Basic Linux/Unix administration skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop within a collaborative team.

Desirable Skills

- Exposure to Oracle Exadata.
- Oracle Grid Infrastructure or RAC experience.
- Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM Cloud Control).
- Data Guard, ASM and Oracle Multitenant (CDB/PDB).
- Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) or working towards Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).
