Position Information
Timbumburi Public School (P1)is a school where everyone has the chance to shine! The school proudly serves the Timbumburi community, located 16 km south from the regional city of Tamworth, located on the New England Highway.
The school encourages students to do their best, academically, socially, and emotionally, as an individual and as a member of a team. There is a promotion of equity: where those with the greater need get the greatest support, where the school shows care and compassion, respect, understanding, tolerance, and inclusiveness. The school has been in existence on the same spot for over 100 years and in that time, it has grown and thrived thanks in part to the shared vision and understanding of the school community. It is surrounded by farming country with several of the families make their living from agriculture.
The school has a 2026 student population of 157, with a small and vibrant Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student population. The school is supported by a principal and ten teachers (both full-time and part-time) which includes two assistant principals, one of which is an Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction who works at the school four days a week.
The school has completed a situational analysis that has identified the school needs to improve its understanding and use of data to drive practices that improve student achievement. The school is working on the use of data to better identify students requiring additional assistance or additional extension.
