TheRole

The Head of Faculty –Languages is a key leadership role responsible for shaping an exceptional learning experience for students across Years 7–12. Leading curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and teaching practice within the faculty, you will work closely with your cross-campus counterpart to ensure a consistent and high-quality student experience across both campuses.

With a passion for academic excellence, you will foster a culture of creativity, curiosity, and achievement, empowering students to thrive in engaging and innovative learning environments. You will also inspire and support teaching staff to deliver high-impact learning experiences that challenge, motivate, and nurture every student.

As a leader of learning, you will champion professional growth, collaboration, and continuous improvement, driving innovation and excellence across the faculty. Working in partnership with the School Teaching and Learning team, Campus Head of Teaching and Learning, and fellow Heads of Faculty, you will help ensure teaching practices are informed by the latest research and best practice. Through the strategic use of student learning and assessment data, you will lead initiatives that enhance teaching effectiveness and deliver outstanding student outcomes.

This is a full-time Position of Responsibility (POR) with a 4-year fixed term, based at our Caulfield campus, commencing 1 January 2027.

Key responsibilities

- Provide leadership and direction to the Faculty, Assistant Heads of Faculty, and staff across the faculty with a focus of creating a strong vibrant learning culture that delivers a consistent student experience across the school.
- Develop and empower your team through structured two-way coaching conversations, recognising achievements, facilitating growth opportunities plans, and providing targeted professional learning and on-the-job development opportunities.




- Oversee collaborative curriculum design and delivery ensuring alignment across all year levels and campuses to support a unified school-wide curriculum within the faculty.
- Develop and implement faculty-specific goals that align with the broader school objectives and reflect a commitment to academic excellence and improved student learning outcomes across years 7 – 12.
- Work alongside the school Student Experience team to develop and implement strategies that deepen the understanding of students’ intellectual, social, emotional, health and well‑being needs, fostering a holistic approach to student development.
- Cultivate a culture where every student feels a strong sense of belonging and is recognised and valued by staff for their individual contributions.
- Manage and review resources, property, and equipment to ensure alignment with School policy and optimal use.
- Connect learning experiences to the wider community, fostering meaningful engagement and participation to enrich student learning within the faculty.

Key selection criteria

Qualifications

- Tertiary qualifications in Education (postgraduate qualifications desirable).
- Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.

Skills and Experience

- Minimum 5 years proven record as an outstanding teacher.
- Experience with mentoring and coaching to build trust amongst students, parents and staff, with the aim of improving and aligning pedagogical practices within the middle and senior years.
- Experience teaching in both middle and senior school desirable.
- Excellent influencing and conflict resolution and problem‑solving skills and ability to give and receive feedback in an appropriate manner.
- Superior organisational skills and strong ability prioritise work and manage multiple tasks.
- Proven ability to manage challenging situations while effectively overseeing and prioritising issues.
- Proven experience in curriculum development and assessment across multiple year levels, ensuring high academic standards.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and fostering collaboration for consistent outcomes.




- Data literacy, with the ability to effectively apply data to enhance student learning.
- Experience in leading strategic projects and ability to drive change and inspire a culture of continuous improvement.
- Relevant experience working across multiple campuses and collaborating with teaching staff and leadership teams is advantageous.
