Fosterville Gold Mine
Bendigo
Fosterville Gold Mine (FGM), part of Agnico Eagle, one of the world's leading gold producers, is a high-grade underground operation just outside Bendigo. And right now, it's a genuinely interesting place to work: a business investing in its people, its systems and its future, looking for an experienced HR Manager to lead the way.
This is not a back-office role, and you won't spend your days justifying HR's existence. You'll report directly to the Deputy General Manager, sit on the site Leadership Team, and be expected to have a view, voice it, and see it through. Your influence will be felt from the crib room to the boardroom, and your name will be known across every crew on site.
Why HR leaders will want this role
- A genuine seat at the table. You won't be fighting for relevance. The Leadership Team wants HR in the room, challenging thinking and shaping decisions.
- Transformation you'll actually get to finish. From HR and payroll systems, to process improvement and organisational initiatives; you’ll lead projects from start to finish.
- Lead and develop a capable team. Support and mentor the HR and Payroll team, further strengthening their capability and influence across the business.
- Lifestyle without compromise. Monday to Friday, residential roster. Build a senior mining career while living in the thriving Bendigo region. No FIFO. No camp life. Home every night.
- Global backing, local impact. The resources and career pathways of Agnico Eagle, with the visibility and autonomy of a close-knit site where your work shows up every day.
What your weeks will look like
- Shaping and delivering HR strategies aligned to the site Roadmap and business strategy, then making them stick.
- Coach and support the HR and Payroll team as they continue to build trusted partnerships with leaders across the site.
- Getting out of the office and into the field, engaging with crews across all rosters and work areas.
- Owning end-to-end recruitment performance: Work closely with leaders to maintain a strong talent pipeline, deliver a positive candidate experience and support future workforce needs.
- Driving employee engagement, retention and leadership development across all supervisory groups
- Bringing a monthly HR dashboard to the Management Team that actually informs decisions.
- Overseeing payroll (including SOX compliance), ensuring legal compliance, and managing escalated ER matters with sound judgement.
- Championing the identification and management of psychosocial hazards alongside the Health and Safety Manager.
What you'll bring
- Substantial experience as a senior HR leader, ideally in an operational or site-based setting.
- A track record of leading HR process improvement or systems implementation (payroll or HRIS transition highly regarded).
- Experience operating in an enterprise agreement environment, including exposure to bargaining.
- Demonstrated success improving recruitment outcomes in a competitive labour market.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act.
- An engaging, approachable leadership style, equally credible with crews in the field and the executive team.
- The influencing skills to shift thinking without relying on positional authority.
- A completer-finisher mindset: disciplined follow-through and delivery on commitments.
- Tertiary qualifications in HR or a related discipline.
- Mining or heavy industry experience strongly preferred; Pronto or HCM systems experience desirable.
What's on offer
- A senior site leadership role with a global gold producer, and the mandate to match.
- Competitive remuneration package.
- Monday to Friday residential roster in regional Victoria.
- Genuine scope to lead change and leave your mark on a high-performing operation.
- Career development opportunities within Agnico Eagle's global network.
- Relocation assistance.
